Approval for York Apartment Scheme

Approval for York Apartment Scheme

Plans for a new five-storey building featuring more than 60 flats have been given the go-ahead.

Under the plans, Tiger Developments will build 62 one-, two- and three-bed apartments, of which 19 per cent will be affordable homes. City of York Council approved the application earlier this week (11 February 2020).

The council initially deferred a decision on the application January 2020. The scheme was subsequently revised and will now include a 28-space car park, and bicycle parking for each apartment.

Seb Horst, from Tiger Developments, said: "A vacant brownfield site will be transformed into a high quality, sustainable landmark building, providing high-quality homes for the people of York whilst creating a new community that will enhance the character and appearance of the area."

Other contributions made by Tiger Developments through the scheme include financial assistance to increase capacity at Tang Hall Primary at Archbishop Holgate schools; improve tennis, basketball and bowling green facilities at Glen Gardens; enhance accessibility at Monk Bridge Gardens; and help create a publicly accessible children's play space at Park Grove School.
