Accessibility Statement

Accessibility Statement

We are actively working to ensure that everyone can access our website and web applications. This includes people with visual, hearing, mobility and cognitive impairments as well as users with new technologies such as smartphones.

Skip links

Our website contains skip links allowing users to skip to the main menu and content without having to go through all of the navigation links.

Accessibility guidelines

We are working to meet level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user friendly for everyone.

Web standards and technologies

This website has been built to conform to W3C standards for HTML and CSS.

Whilst we try to meet accessibility guidelines, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. The following areas are known to us as falling outside of our intended web accessibility targets:

  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) maps data
  • Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and Instagram
  • PDF documents

We will continue to investigate ways of improving the accessibility of these areas.

We are also aware that some of our third party applications do not conform to the same levels of accessibility. We are working towards making these sites as accessible as possible.
